Mindfulness Lived Awareness Training
A structured 12-week program integrating neuroscience, evidence-based psychology, and Tamil classical contemplative traditions — coming soon.
A different kind of mindfulness program
MLAT™ — Mindfulness Lived Awareness Training — is an original psychoeducational framework developed by Monica Allan. It integrates neuroscience, MiCBT, ACT, and Tamil classical contemplative traditions into a structured 12-week program.
Unlike technique-focused mindfulness programs, MLAT builds mindfulness as an orientation — a fundamental shift in how awareness operates — before introducing any skill content. This is grounded in both the neuroscience of attention regulation and the Tamil concept of nigazhunarvu (நிகழுணர்வு): present-moment awareness as a lived, embodied quality rather than a practice to be performed.
MLAT Level 1 (Foundations, 12 weeks) is currently in final development. Register below to be notified when enrolments open.
Neuroscience-grounded
Built on current research in attention, interoception, and emotion regulation — not on tradition alone.
Orientation before technique
Weeks 1–4 build mindfulness as a way of being before any formal skill content is introduced.
Tamil contemplative traditions
Drawing on the Thirukkural and Sangam literature — one of the oldest and least-examined mindfulness traditions.
Evidence-based structure
Integrates MiCBT and ACT frameworks with weekly psychoeducation, daily practice, and validated outcome measures.
